On the Ground in the Pearl Distrct
Councilor Clark and NWCC Walk the Neighborhood to Tackle Safety, Livability, and Real Change
Earlier this year, the Northwest Community Conservancy’s (NWCC) Executive Director, Chase McPherson and Board Chair Ken Thrasher had the opportunity to walk the Pearl District with Portland’s District 4 City Councilor Olivia Clark. The tour provided an on-the-ground view of the area’s evolving landscape and a chance to discuss collaborative solutions for improving livability and public safety.
Councilor Clark saw firsthand the impact of NWCC’s efforts—from our 24/7 crisis response hotline that has fielded over 2,237 calls in 22 months, to our humanitarian team that has helped connect 2,019 individuals to shelters and services and essential services in 24 months. These efforts reflect our holistic approach to community well-being—one that combines compassion-driven outreach with enhanced neighborhood security and accountability.
We are grateful to Councilor Clark for her time, leadership, and genuine commitment to understanding the challenges our community faces. Her support reinforces our shared goal: making the Pearl District a place where everyone—residents, business owners, and visitors alike—can feel safe, supported, and proud to call home.
Together, we’re moving toward a more vibrant, thriving Pearl District.
